Hotel Viura by Designhouses

The first thing that comes to your mind when you hear La Rioja is probably the wine bearing the same name. La Rioja lies along the western side of the Ebro Valley and is famous not only for its wine and tapas but also for its beautiful landscape. This is where some of the oldest traditional wineries are, a real paradise for wine lovers.  Situated in Villabuena de Álava Hotel Viura by Designhouses is perfect as a base for discovering the region.

The hotel is located right next to the San Andrés Church,  an architectural monument built between 1538 and 1728.  Composed of large cubes, Hotel Viura’s structure seems to emerge right from the center of the earth. Floor to ceiling windows offer amazing views of the Sierra de Cantabria mountains providing natural light at the same time. Each room comes equipped with its very own outdoor terrace where plants give color to the landscape. Hotel Viura with its phenomenically abstract structure brings to mind Picasso’s hand sketches. Despite the fact that it is a modern construction right in the heart of a  traditional village the blending is successful, making the hotel part of the relaxing scenery.
