WOOD PROJECT by Aldo Bakker
Wood resists a treatment based on control and utopian, dreamed-of forms. It has an unpredictable character that emerges gradually, until it bursts free of its straitjacket, the form imposed on it.Each design becomes an experiment with a type of wood, which treatment best suits the form and its sort? The Wood Project involves discussion and tackles the notion of ‘archetypical’ form. The goal is to arrive at a reconsideration of the value of wood as material.

TUTU by Lenneke Langenhuijsen
Wood is known to be a natural and pure material that is often used to create strong and solid objects. Unknown to many, wood has more qualities. Wood can become a textile. This flexible material offers new opportunities for woodworking. Textile techniques like sewing, washing, folding and coloring can be used in addition to the traditional wood techniques such as sawing, carving and sanding. A research on shaping the material resulted in a set of wooden stools formed and upholstered with multiple layers of wooden textile. A unique property of this material is that unlike regular textiles, it can be moulded to hold a given shape, seamlessly assuming three-dimensional charateristics.

CLAMPLAMP by Dana Cannam
Clamplamp explores the concept of honesty in design, where the main objective is to maximise the functionality of a solid unfinished material rather than adding unwanted components. For minimal environmental impact, the lamp is manufactured with very little process and is easily de-constructed back to its natural material. The lamp uses an energy-efficient LED strip.
