When it comes to A’ Design Award and Competition, the WDR – World Design Ranking, is one of the most useful tools to understand the potential of each country in terms of trophies, designers, and awarded works. It is a list that provides additional information and data regarding the Design industry. In other words, it’s a quick overview of the global map of Design!
Based on this year’s results, China is the leading country with 86 platinum and 375 golden awards, followed by USA in the second position with 67 platinum and 205 golden awards. Japan, Italy and Hong Kong are third, fourth and fifth in the ranking with Great Britain, Taiwan, Germany, Turkey and Australia occupying the last positions in the top ten of the leading countries in Design.

This year, there are two new countries which have been added in the 2020-2021 rankings: Macau (China) and Iraq. From a general point of view, the Top 10 list remains the same, however there have been some important changes in the ranking: Hong Kong managed to surpass Great Britain, while Taiwan and Germany surpassed Turkey.
Changes like these take place every year, showing how dynamic, competitive and diverse the A’ Design Award and Competition is. This is a competition where participants compete against the best designers of the world and this is why creativity and innovation is so important in order the best work to be listed among the winners.

The WDR and especially the “Design Business Insights†section provides useful information and insights about how successful every country is in various Design categories. For example, we can easily find which country excels in Architecture or Interior Design but also check the strengths, the weaknesses and, last but not least, the opportunities that each country deals with in this competition.
The “Design Strengths” section allows us to check the Design areas in which a country is better compared to other competitors, for example, China excels in Interior Design and Architecture. On the other hand, the “Design Weaknesses†table displays the Design fields that are below average for a specific country against the competition. The “Design Weaknesses†section provides interesting information about specific areas that could be further developed by each country in order to come out stronger and potentially achieve more awards in the competition.
