The World Design Rankings offers valuable insights and interesting facts regarding the design industry. The WDR’s intention is to provide a snapshot of the state-of-art and design potentials of each country participating in the competition by highlighting their strengths but also their weaknesses. The “Design Business Insights” section provides a ranking of countries based on their success in diverse design fields and creative categories.

The World Design Rankings provides three additional tables for strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities. The first table is known as “Design Strengths” and it refers to the dominant design fields, in which a country excels. In order to better understand how this table works, we may use the example of Italy which is a country that is better in Fashion Design and Furniture Design and therefore one of the top leading countries in the ranking.

On the other side, the “Design Weaknesses” table displays all these design fields in which a country is below average compared to the competition and as a result, it needs to improve furthermore. Last but not least, the “Design Opportunities” table displays the design categories that offer a chance to each participant/country for further growth and success.
